City Lit is commited to Safe Spaces

At City Lit Theater, we believe that safe spaces are an essential part of the creative process, and that artists do their best work when they feel seen, heard, and supported. Our Safe Space standards are based on the Not In Our House Chicago Theatre Standards, but we also review and update them annually to account for the shifting needs of our artistic community. 

We stand with those who speak out against abuses of power, and we lend our voice to the community’s mandate for accountability. There is no place for bullying and harassment in the workplace. Abuse is not art.

To the Chicago theatre community: we vow to uphold these values, and to lend our voice whenever our collective standards need to evolve.
