City Lit Theater

City Lit Theater, in Edgewater is the longest continuously producing storefront theater in Chicago. We were founded in 1979, with $210, and are now about to start our 46th season. City Lit Theater was the first in the nation devoted to stage adaptations of literary material. At City Lit’s launch event, our founders were able to read a congratulatory letter we had received from Tennessee Williams. We have been associated with many great theater folk from Chicago and beyond.
