Terry McCabe - Artistic Director Terry has been City Lit's artistic director since February 2005. This is his 26th year directing plays professionally in Chicago. He was artistic director of Stormfield Theatre for four years, resident director at Wisdom Bridge Theatre for five years, and worked at the Body Politic Theatre three different times in three different capacities over a span of 14 years. He won two Jeff Citations for directing at Stormfield,and has been nominated for the Jeff Award for Best Director three times, for shows at Wisdom Bridge, Victory Gardens, and Court Theatre. He has directed at many Chicago theatres either long gone or still with us, as well as off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theatre, at the Edinburgh Festival, and at Vienna's English Theatre. His book Mis-Directing the Play has been denounced at length in the pages of American Theatre magazine and from the podium at The Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas national convention, but is nonetheless used in directing classes from coast to coast. He is an artistic associate of BoarsHead Theatre in Lansing, Michigan, under its artistic director Kristine Thatcher, and a member of the theatre faculty at Columbia College under Sheldon Patinkin. |

Brian Pastor - Managing Director Brian was promoted to Managing Director in June, 2006 after serving as City Lit's Business Manager since February, 2005. Brian's producing experience dates back to his days at Northwestern University where he was a founder and staff producer for Lovers and Madmen, an all-Shakespeare performance troupe. Brian is also a founder and the current Executive Director of Promethean Theatre Ensemble. He interned both at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera and the Pittsburgh Public Theater, where he worked closely with the theatre's Director of Education and Outreach. As an actor, Brian has appeared in shows with City Lit, Promethean Theatre, Bailiwick Repertory, Strawdog Theatre, Arts/Lane, Authentic Theatre and The Mime Company. City Lit audiences will remember his on-stage work in The Play's the Thing, the Jeff-Recommended production of The Rivals, Doctor Knock, Beautiful Soup, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and most recently, the Jeff-Recommended Gidget. . Brian also served as Assistant Director on the Jeff-Recommended production of Holmes and Watson and co-adapted Pudd'nhead Wilson with Terry McCabe. Brian was recently seen in Our Country's Good and Light of Love with Promethean Theatre Ensemble. |
